Prescribed burn scheduled for Pirate’s Wharf Park

A prescribed burn is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at Pirate's Wharf Park in Quantico.

The burn will begin around 10:30 a.m., led by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forest Services. Visitors are advised to avoid the park.

A prescribed burn is a controlled application of fire to land by trained professionals used to manage vegetation, reduce wildfire risk and restore healthy ecosystems.

This will prepare the park for planting 23+ acres of trees and meadows as part of the approved master plan.
