Cope Bennett Park
Cope Bennett Park is situated along the Nanticoke River in Sharptown, Maryland, about 15 minutes from Salisbury. The spacious park provides a unique view of the Route 313 bridge as it crosses the river dividing Wicomico and Dorchester counties. In addition to the beautiful view, the park provides visitors with two tennis courts, a softball field, a large playground area, a pavilion with picnic tables, and a walking path along the water's edge. The walking path is a 1,000 foot greenways trail which was added in 2009 as part of the Cope Bennett/Cherry Beach Master Plan. The path now connects the two parks, leading under the bridge to Cherry Beach Park, which provides another playground, a small beach area, a large pavilion, and a boat ramp and fishing pier.
Cope Bennett Park is not maintained by the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism but it is still considered a county park as significant funding was provided in its development through Maryland's Program Open Space.
This park was funded in part by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Program Open Space Grants.
