Billy Gene Jackson Sr. Park
Billy Gene Jackson Sr. Park is located alongside The Salvation Army Richard Hazel Youth Center on North Lake Park Drive. The park consists of a lighted softball field, lighted basketball courts with bleachers, lighted tennis courts that also include lines for pickleball, a playground area, and a permanent concessions building with a covered picnic area and restroom facilities.
If you follow the road around the softball field, you will find that the park has a walking trail leading to a small beach area with a fishing pier on Johnson Pond. A variety of youth programs are offered at the park in a cooperative effort between Wicomico County, the Salisbury Advisory Council on Youth Activities (SACYA), and the Salvation Army. During the summer, for instance, sports lessons are provided in the mornings and a youth basketball league is held in the evenings on the lighted courts.
Like its namesake, Billy Gene Jackson Sr. Park is an incredible resource for the local community.
The neighboring gym and outdoor pool are operated by The Salvation Army Richard Hazel Youth Center. For more information on these facilities, call 410-546-7766.
This park was funded in part by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Program Open Space Grants.
