Lake Street Playground
The Lake Street Playground is located right across the street from Chipman Elementary School and shares a parking lot with the First Baptist Church Family Life and Cultural Center. The well-maintained neighborhood park has a recreational softball field, two lighted basketball courts with bleachers, a large playground area, a pavilion with picnic tables and grills, and a permanent concessions building with restroom facilities. The playground equipment includes a Gametime play set for school age children with a climbing wall and 6 slides.
Not only is the park a great place for families to come play on their own, Lake Street is home to several organized programs as well. In addition to a collaborative effort to provide programs, the park is maintained jointly by the county and city, making Lake Street Playground a true example of community and teamwork.
This park was funded in part by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Program Open Space Grants.
