Youth Volleyball | Wicomico County Recreation, Parks & Tourism

Bump! Set! Spike! Our department offers a variety of volleyball programs for boys and girls from 1st through 12th grade. Whether you are a new player interested in learning the game, a returning player looking to build on skills you’ve already learned, or are a recreational or competitive player looking for some extra practice and scrimmage games, then we have something for you! Directed and supervised by Chris Emge, Bennett High School Varsity volleyball coach. All equipment is provided; Participants may wear knee pads but they are not required.

Junior Volleyball

Registration: October and is open until classes are full
Program Fee: $65 per participant
Age Group: Girls and boys grades 1st - 8th. Divided into age based divisions
- Division I – All 7th & 8th graders and returning 6th graders
- Division II – 4th, 5th & 6th graders
- Division III – 1st, 2nd & 3rd graders
Date(s): January 5th through February 23rd - Thursday evenings
Time(s): Division III 6:15-7pm, Division II 7:15-8pm, Division I 8:15-9pm
Location: Bennett Middle School Gymnasium
Details: 8 sessions; Basic fundamentals and rules of volleyball are taught. All participants will receive a T-shirt. Picture night is provided for those that are interested.

Spring Youth Volleyball

Registration: February 1 until classes are full
Program Fee: $50 per participant
Age Group: Girls and boys grades 1st - 12th; Divided into 3 age divisions
- Elementary School Division - 1st through 5th grade
- Middle School Division - 6th through 8th grade (returning/experienced 5th graders may participate in this division)
- High School Division - 9th through 12 grade (returning/experienced 8th graers may participate in this division)
- Classes will be broken into smaller sections based on age and skill levels.
Date(s): Thursday Evenings, March 15 - April 26
Time(s): Elementary 6:15-7:00pm, Middle 7:15-8:00pm, High 8:15pm-9:00pm
Location: Bennett Middle School Gymnasium
Details: 6 sessions; basic fundamentals and rules are taught, each week you build on what you learned the week before. The High School division will participate in more scrimmage type play.

Girls Softball

Swing batter batter swing! The Junior Girls Softball League offers four different leagues for girl’s ages 8 to 18 years old. This is a recreational league where focus is on teaching and learning softball skills, player participation, being a part of a team and sportsmanship. Girls of all skill levels and experience are invited to join in the tradition. Games are played twice a week (two week nights) with an occasionally Saturday game. Youth Volleyball for Girls and Boys

Two programs are offered, allowing instructional time and play for children from 1st grade through high school to learn the game of volleyball. Co-Ed Scholastic Volleyball begins in early December with 3 sessions available and Co-Ed Junior offers 3 divisions for players beginning in January. Read More
