Hebron Park & Community Center
Hebron Park and Community Center, often referred to as “Lion’s Park,” is located just around the corner from the carnival grounds in Hebron on West Church Street. As suggested by its nickname, the park was a joint venture between the Hebron Lion’s Club, Wicomico County, and Maryland’s Program Open Space. The well maintained park has a lighted softball field with bleachers, lighted tennis courts, a spacious playground area, a basketball court, a pavilion with picnic tables, and a small concessions building with restroom facilities. Also on the property is the Lion’s Club Community Center which is used regularly for meetings and special events.
The town and Lion’s Club take great pride in this park. If you go by in the early morning, for instance, you may run into an older man leisurely drinking his coffee and picking up pieces of trash as he walks around the grounds. “Had a big day out here yesterday,” he’ll say, “Girls had four games, just finished up their season. Figured I’d get the trash picked up before the men’s games today.” And he’ll continue along, a little spring in his step, thinking nothing of it. Old school – that’s Hebron Park.
This park was funded in part by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Program Open Space Grants.
